Recipe #2Hot Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Makes: 5 cups
 
Comments: A good, tangy sauce with as much heat as you want. Whiskey flavor makes this a keeper!
 
Ingedients:
0.5 cup onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1.5 cup Kentucky bourbon whiskey
0.5 tsp ground black pepper use fresh ground or cracked pepper here for flavor
0.5 tsp salt can substitute hickory salt as well
2 cups prepared ketchup use homemade ketchup for extra taste
12 oz. can tomato paste
0.3 cup cider vinegar adjust amount to taste
2 Tbl liquid smoke adjust amount to taste
0.25 cup Worcestershire sauce can use powdered mix -- add more water
0.5 cup packed brown sugar
1 whole jalapeno pepper, chopped can substitute other peppers for flavor
0.25 cup Kaluha
1 tsp red pepper flakes use 160K red pepper flakes for extra heat
0.5 cup water adjust accordingly for desired consistency
 
Directions:
  1. In a large non-reactive skillet over medium heat, combine onion, garlic and whiskey. simmer until onion is clear (about 10 minutes). Mix in the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat, pour mixture into blender and blend on medium-high speed until smooth.
  3. Pour sauce into container and let cool. Let stand in refrigerator for 1 to 2 days to let flavors combine.
  4. Perfect for pork, chicken and brisket.
