Comments | This is the rebuild of Big R.O.Y. I...all that was left of that rocket was used in this one: the nose cone and the altimeter bay. The altimeter bay was reinforced with carbon-kevlar wrapped couplers and modified to become a dual-deployment platform.
This rocket became an experimental platform for my studies since it is my first dual-deployment capable rocket. It was also my first foray into fiberglassing and the use of black-powder charges.
It has flown to ~2750' on a Pro38 3-grain (I-205) and was recovered successfully in 30 mph winds with a PML streamer and 36" Spherachute.
It can also be flown in a 'short' configuration without the payload bay. This has flown on Pro38 1-grain motors (G-69) to ~1100'. |
